Hello Family!
We’ve got some exciting updates to share with you from this past month!
The Power of Forgiveness
ELC hosted an Encounter Weekend on the last weekend in June, which, despite venue challenges, was very impactful. There were around 100 men in attendance. One of the most pivotal moments was the giving and receiving of forgiveness by proxy after the session on forgiveness.
As volunteer mentors stood across from inmates, two sets of questions were asked: “Who am I?” and “What have I done to you?” Then the inmate shared their pain, and the mentor asked for forgiveness as a proxy. Then, the roles reversed with the proxy asking, “Who am I?” and “What have you done to me?” The inmate then shared the pain they caused to someone else and asked for the forgiveness of the proxy. Some men were absolutely broken by the Spirit of God. God moves every time.
Possible Collaboration with Prisons in the UK
Last month, Pastor Charles was invited to share ELC’s work in prisons with prison leaders in England. They are currently working on potential program proposals for the future. Pastor Charles said it was a great trip!
Upcoming Family Day
Family Day at the Stringfellow Unit is planned for Saturday, July 26th with 30 families expected to attend. Incarceration causes a ripple effect of trauma that touches the innocent. Please pray for a special time of bonding and togetherness for the fathers, mothers, and their children.
ELC to Launch in Women’s Prison in Gatesville
We are actively working with a chaplain at a women’s unit in Gatesville to launch a new class by the end of July. Please pray for church connections and volunteers in that area to spread the news about what we do to the surrounding units. There are five women’s units near the Gatesville prison, and we hope to become a presence in each one.
2nd Annual Fundraising Banquet
For those of you asking about the annual fundraising banquet, we’ve got a save-the-date for you! The event will be held on Saturday, September 13th, at South Main Baptist Church. More details will follow, but for now, please mark your calendars. We hope to see you there!
Thank you for your continued support of this ministry. We are deeply grateful to you and humbled to be a part of God’s work behind bars
God bless you and keep you,
The Team at ELC
